The last picture, a day before she gave out.
Attempts to revive the EJ25D in the Fishbowl have been unsuccessful. With a little bit of help from the family, it did live for a hot minute... then it gave out. Ah well.
Next stop: the fabled Craigslist engine. This time, it’s been sitting four years in a dry, sheltered
location. It’s cheap enough that even if it’s a wash, I can just stuff both motors in the car and send it off to the scrappers to recoup my losses.
As a barely even qualified “mechanic”, my brain’s got one thing for me:

Depending on your skill level I highly recommend buying a factory service manual download off eBay. Super helpful and usually $25-30.

I’ve got a Haynes manual and my stepdad’s yanked a few Subaru motors. I think I’m going to be fine.
I think.

Hah! Maybe when I’m rolling in cash I’ll stuff one into an early 2000s Legacy sedan. That seems like it would be wicked good fun.

I have the full factory service manual for ‘97, ‘98, & ‘99 in PDF . They should all be pretty similar though. Send me an email at awdboxer4@gmail.com.

Maybe it’ll turn into one in a few years, after I get myself something more reliable and less prone to exploding itself.
